Abstract
Investigation of turbulent swirl flow occupies attention of many researchers as it has great significance on processes in nature, engineering applications, medicine and elsewhere. Here are presented experimental results of research of turbulent swirl flow generated on axial fan pressure side. These results are obtained with Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA), classical probes and flow visualization with usage of Nd:Yag laser in circular pipe for Reynolds number around 282000. Flow integral characteristics obtained from LDA results have shown good agreement with ones calculated on the basis of classical probe measurements. Difference occurs thanks to the central, vortex core region, where flow should be considered as three dimensional. In addition are presented and compared data rates obtained for LDA measurements under the same conditions but with four different smoke generators. Presented results offer better insight into fluid flow dynamics and point out importance of adequate flow seeding, what enables determination of flow turbulence characteristics.
